About
Description
The US Resiliency Council (USRC) is dedicated to improving community resilience through a focus on engineering, equity, environment, and economics. Their vision is to create a future where both the environment and society have a low impact on each other. The USRC's executive leadership consists of engineers and experts in public policy, insurance, lending, construction, and housing.
By working with advisory committees and membership that include architects, researchers, scientists, civic leaders, industry suppliers, and disaster and emergency response professionals, the USRC brings a wealth of capability to the mission of enhancing community resilience. The USRC educates and advocates for resilience-based design, ensuring that the impact of natural disasters is considered in the built environment. They offer a building performance rating system for earthquakes and other hazards that is used by public and private owners and communities.
The USRC is also forming the basis for economic and financial incentives developed by lenders and insurers to reward high-performing buildings
