## Description

Sport in American History is an editorial website devoted to exploring the history and cultural significance of sport in the United States. Through articles, reviews, and commentary, it examines how sports intersect with society, identity, politics, religion, media, and broader historical change. Its coverage spans a wide range of subjects, including baseball, football, basketball, tennis, soccer, auto racing, professional wrestling, and athlete activism, with attention to the experiences and contributions of women and underrepresented communities. The site publishes reviews of books and films, featuring works from academic and mainstream publishers, alongside contributions from writers and scholars. Recent reviews consider topics such as scouting, sports in the 1970s, football safety, the Indianapolis 500, Althea Gibson, Black Power and athlete activism, the growth of American soccer, and the digital NBA. Sport in American History also introduces its contributors, provides links to related resources, and invites new contributors to participate. By connecting sports scholarship with accessible discussion, the website offers readers an informed perspective on how athletic culture has shaped, and been shaped by, American history.
