The Utah Geological Survey operates the Natural Resources Map & Bookstore, which offers a wide range of books, maps, and publications on Utah's geology and fossils. As one of Utah's largest state agencies, the Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to managing and protecting the state's natural resources, ensuring a high quality of life for its residents. Comprised of seven divisions, including Forestry, Fire & State Lands, Oil, Gas & Mining, State Parks & Recreation, Water Resources, Water Rights, Wildlife Resources, and the Geological Survey, the department plays a vital role in safeguarding Utah's environment. Located on the first floor of the Department of Natural Resources building in Salt Lake City, the Natural Resources Map & Bookstore is not only the official source for U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps in the state, but also offers a variety of recreational books and rockhounding items.
