## Description

Vermont Achievement Center (VAC) is a community-focused organization based in Rutland, Vermont. Its mission is to help people build life skills and reach their potential as contributing members of society through flexible, responsive programs, advocacy, education, and empowerment. VAC’s approach emphasizes respect, nurturing support, family involvement, and collaboration among staff, volunteers, partners, and the community.

The center’s programs and services include special education through Sheldon Academy, child care support services, child care financial assistance, referral services, and Children’s Integrated Services, including specialized childcare. VAC also lists water safety and swim lessons among its areas of service. Other offerings shown on its website include a therapeutic summer program at Sheldon Academy, a summer program, and a community garden. However, the Early Education and Care and Kaleidescope Summer Program are currently closed, with an opening update for the former expected in summer 2027; the Mitchell Therapy Pool is permanently closed. VAC also invites community members to support its work through donations, planned giving, and other forms of charitable contribution.
