VAIS, the Virginia Association of Independent Schools, is a leader in advancing and advocating for independent school education in Virginia. With 94 member schools employing over 8,000 faculty, staff, and administrators, they educate nearly 30,000 students in grades PreKindergarten-12/Post Graduate. Governed by an independent Board of Directors, VAIS promotes excellence, growth, and success by providing relevant and rewarding opportunities for connection, collaboration, and leadership.

VAIS believes in the power of diversity and is committed to nurturing and enhancing a workplace environment that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable. They actively support member schools in their efforts to attract and retain a diverse school community where all members are valued and respected. VAIS offers an evaluation and accreditation program approved by the Virginia State Board of Education and the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation.

They also provide professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators, and trustees, as well as safeguarding the interests of member schools in matters of legislation and regulation.
