## Description

Valdres Historielag is a regional history association dedicated to sharing knowledge about the local history and people of Valdres, Norway. Its work includes protecting historical heritage and supporting research into earlier ways of life and culture. The association also serves as a coordinating body for independent local history groups across Valdres municipalities, helping connect members and others interested in the region’s past.

Founded in 1915 on the initiative of Ola Knutsson Ødegaard, the association has a long-standing role in preserving and communicating local heritage. Its website provides information about the board, bylaws, meeting minutes, local history groups and publications. These include the journal Tidsskrift for Valdres Historielag, annual books published since 1968, special publications, Valdreskalendaren, reprints of older works and books from Valdres Bygdeboks forlag. The association also shares current and historical material through its Facebook page, where followers contribute comments and insights. Together, these activities support research, publication and public engagement with Valdres history.
