## Description

Valerie Eliot Smith is a retired British barrister with a wealth of experience in law, particularly in technology, media, telecommunications, human rights, data protection, and freedom of information. Since 1987, Valerie has dedicated her career to advocating for legal and health matters, although as of September 2022, she has limited her involvement in advocacy and assistance work within the myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) community due to health challenges.

This blog, "Law and Health," serves as a platform for Valerie to share her insights and research on various topics, notably the legal and medical complexities surrounding ME, often misclassified as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Valerie's extensive background also includes expertise in media strategy, dispute resolution, and psychotherapy, enriching her understanding of the interplay between law, health, and public perception.

Valerie invites readers to engage respectfully, emphasizing that the information provided is not legal or medical advice. She remains committed to raising awareness about ME while navigating her own health challenges.
