## Description

Validian Protocol, Inc. develops an open, decentralized protocol for establishing and verifying the authenticity and provenance of digital media. Its system creates a permanent, verifiable record for a file by combining cryptographic signatures, content hashes and decentralized storage. The verification process can bind media to a creator, device and capture record, while distinguishing proven facts from inferred or AI-generated signals. Users and independent verifiers can inspect receipts, recompute hashes and check signatures, including through offline verification.

Validian’s services support media verification and evidence records, with tools for checking metadata, capture integrity and potential anomalies. Accepted media and signed receipt data can be stored using IPFS, while optional publication and blockchain anchoring extend access to proof records. Additional options include C2PA manifests and tokenization, allowing verified media to be represented as ownable digital collectibles without making tokens necessary for verification.

The protocol is designed for applications including journalism, digital creators, legal evidence, insurance, financial services, and supply chains. Its goal is to make digital provenance portable and independently verifiable.
