## Description

The Valley Press Club is a nonprofit membership organization supporting journalism and the people who serve Western Massachusetts. Established in 1960, it promotes truthfulness, objectivity, accuracy, and fair, balanced reporting. Its members include active and retired journalists, public relations professionals, politicians, and community members who care about preserving quality journalism.

The club advances its mission through educational workshops, luncheons featuring newsmakers, fundraising events, and opportunities to build relationships between news media and news sources. A central part of its work is supporting future journalists: it awards annual scholarships to local high school students pursuing journalism careers and has granted more than 160 college scholarships. The club also recognizes contributions to journalism, including through its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Membership helps sustain these programs and supports students preparing to enter the profession. By bringing together people from across the region and investing in education, the Valley Press Club works to strengthen local journalism and encourage transparency in community life. It serves Western Massachusetts and is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
