VAND OG OMSORG is a Hjørring-based service that helps people with disabilities enjoy swimming in a safe, supportive setting. Founded by Helle Pedersen, a qualified social and healthcare assistant with many years of experience, the service provides individual assistance tailored to each person’s needs, abilities and goals.

Support begins at the swimming pool entrance and can include changing, entering and leaving the water, and assistance in the pool. Helle can offer practical or emotional support and help assess which equipment may be useful. At VANDHUSET – PARK VENDIA in Hjørring, accessible changing rooms and a range of aids are available, including pool lifts. Assistance at another swimming pool may also be possible by arrangement.

Sessions can focus on relaxing in warm water, building strength, improving mobility and balance, or becoming more confident about visiting a pool independently. VAND OG OMSORG can also help arrange participation in VANDHUSET – PARK VENDIA’s “Træn FOR mig” programme for eligible Hjørring Municipality residents, accompanying clients as a support person.
