## Description

V-Day is a global activist movement committed to ending violence against women, girls, and the Earth. It has evolved from a single play into a vast movement of survivors, artists, and activists working at the intersection of art and activism. V-Day aims to break taboos, create space for marginalized women, and initiate community-led culture and system change. One of their new campaigns, VOICES, is an interdisciplinary performance arts project grounded in Black women's stories, seeking to unify the vision of ending violence against women across the African Continent and Diaspora. Another major initiative is One Billion Rising, the largest mass action to end violence against women in history. It highlights the fact that one in three women will experience violence during her lifetime and encourages communities to rise through dance and show their determination to resist violence. Additionally, V-Day operates City of Joy, a transformative leadership community for women survivors of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here, survivors receive healing, learn new skills, and become leaders in their communities. V-Day also engages young people through initiatives like the Dismantle Patriarchy Contest, encouraging them to creatively address the impact of patriarchy and envision a post-patriarchal world. By organizing events, campaigns, and providing resources, V-Day continues to be a driving force for change and empowerment.
