## Description

Vela is an online literary magazine dedicated to writing by women. Through reported features, personal essays, interviews, and curated reading recommendations, it creates space for women’s stories and perspectives across a wide range of subjects. Its editorial sections include Features, Body of Work, The Writing Life, Women We Read This Week, Bookmarked, Milestones, Outlines, and Placed, bringing together original work, reflections on craft and life, and commentary on books and culture. Published pieces explore topics such as motherhood, grief, reproductive experiences, relationships, identity, and humanity’s place in the world. Vela also highlights writers and storytellers whose work challenges dominant narratives and addresses oppression and erasure. The magazine invites submissions and has hosted nonfiction writing contests, supporting the development and publication of women’s voices.
