## Description

Venice Theatre is a nonprofit community theater in Venice, Florida, serving the Sarasota area. Founded in 1950, it describes itself as one of the largest and most active community theaters in the United States. Its mission is brought to life through a varied program of plays, musicals, variety performances, and theater trips, with tickets and season subscriptions available to audiences. The theater’s productions include both familiar stories and contemporary entertainment, such as the musical comedy Freaky Friday and the drama Blood Relations.

Venice Theatre also offers education and participation opportunities for a wide range of ages. Classes, camps, apprenticeships, scholarships, youth programs, teen improv, and school offerings help people explore theater, while auditions and volunteer roles welcome community involvement. The organization provides additional ways to support its work, including donations, show sponsorships, and opportunities to name a seat or space.

Venice Theatre is raising funds to rebuild its mainstage Jervey Theatre after devastation from Hurricane Ian, aiming to restore a central cultural gathering place for the community.
