## Description

VeriCoin and Verium are pioneering digital currencies conceived by two PhD students from Rutgers University in 2014, aimed at addressing the limitations of traditional cryptocurrencies. Their vision revolves around creating scalable, fast, and secure transactions with minimal fees, ensuring accessibility and fairness through an open-source model. Notably, VeriCoin introduced an innovative blockchain protocol termed "Proof of Stake Time," enhancing security and consensus while promoting transparency by revealing developers' identities.

In 2016, the ecosystem expanded with Verium, designed as a digital reserve utilizing a "Proof of Work Time" protocol, which facilitates mining through everyday CPU memory, empowering users to engage with the currency without needing specialized hardware. The core mission of VeriCoin and Verium is to provide opportunities through accessibility, ensuring individuals can control their finances in a peer-to-peer, trustless environment. With a committed volunteer community driving development and support, these cryptocurrencies aspire to revolutionize the global digital economy and create a more inclusive financial landscape for all.
