## Description

Vertical Veg, founded by Mark Ridsdill Smith, helps people grow fresh food in small urban spaces. Its practical guidance covers vegetables, fruit, herbs, salads and microgreens grown in containers on balconies, rooftops, patios, windowsills and front yards. The focus is on gardening that is productive, affordable and organic, while making the process feel achievable for beginners and experienced growers alike.

Through its website, blog and YouTube channel, Vertical Veg shares advice based on Mark’s hands-on experience. Topics include choosing suitable plants, growing in shady or windy locations, reusing potting mix, building healthy soil and getting abundant harvests from limited space. The site also explores small-space worm composting and offers ideas for growing food that can be difficult to find in shops.

For gardeners seeking more structured, personalised support, Vertical Veg provides online courses. Visitors can also subscribe to its free email updates for tips, learning and reflections on container gardening. Vertical Veg aims to help people enjoy homegrown food across the growing seasons, even without a conventional garden.
