# Victoria Stroke Recovery Association - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `victoriastrokerecovery.org` ## Description The Victoria Stroke Recovery Association (VSRA) is a community organization supporting stroke survivors and their care partners. Founded in 1979, the association brings together people with lived experience of stroke to share support and encourage recovery, hope, and renewed possibilities. Members meet each Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with activities and special events offered throughout the year. VSRA provides programs designed to support communication, wellbeing, social connection, and self-management. Speech and conversation groups, led by a registered speech-language pathologist, include aphasia communication sessions and an aphasia partner program. Adapted seated group exercise is supervised by a qualified instructor, while music therapy uses singing and rhythm to stimulate the brain. A confidential care partner support group offers space to share experiences and build connections. The association also runs a self-management program to help participants manage stress and pursue personal goals, and its dragon boat team, A Stroke Ahead, welcomes stroke survivors, care partners, board members, and experienced paddlers.
