About
Description
Victory Garden Initiative is a grassroots movement that aims to build communities centered around growing their own food. They believe that every person, in every household, can connect to their food source by participating in the act of growing it. Their mission is to create a community-led, socially just, environmentally sustainable, and nutritious food system for all. Through their various programs such as the Great Milwaukee Victory Garden BLITZ, Victory Garden Urban Farm, Youth Education Programming, Harvest Season Farmstand, and Volunteer and Intern Engagement, Victory Garden Initiative brings communities together to teach them how to grow food and provide them with the necessary resources to create their sustainable community.
Since launching in 2009, Victory Garden Initiative has installed over 3,500 gardens, launched a 1. 5-acre urban farm, and planted 26 orchards in low-income neighborhoods. They also offer training programs and engage with the community to ensure the success of their mission. By becoming a Victory Gardener, individuals can contribute to the fight for food security and the health of our ecosystems while enjoying the benefits of fresh, tasty food.
Victory Garden Initiative believes that through gardening, communities can establish a connection to the cycle of life and create a sustainable and abundant future. Join the movement and be a part of this transformative journey towards a socially just and sustainable food system.
