## Description

Vierdaagse van de IJzer is an international four-day walking event organised by Belgian Defence in collaboration with the municipality of Koksijde and the cities of Nieuwpoort, Diksmuide, Poperinge and Ieper. Bringing together experienced walkers, families, young people, military personnel and first-time participants, the event encourages people to walk, discover local places, commemorate history and build fellowship. Each day features a route centred on a different area: Oostduinkerke and Koksijde to Nieuwpoort, Diksmuide, Poperinge, and Ieper. Participants can register for the event and find practical information about daily start and finish locations. The website also shares event updates, photographs, a newsletter and information about partners and good causes. Supported by volunteers, sponsors, local authorities, emergency services and Defence, the march is known for its organised routes and welcoming atmosphere. Following a record 53rd edition with 15,434 participants, Vierdaagse van de IJzer is preparing its 54th edition, scheduled for 17–20 August 2027.
