## Description

The Vilcek Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of the invaluable contributions made by immigrants in the United States, while fostering a deep appreciation for the arts and sciences. Recognizing that diversity is essential for the growth and progress of these fields, the foundation celebrates immigrant artists and scientists through various initiatives. Their prestigious Vilcek Foundation Prizes are awarded to foreign-born individuals who have made extraordinary achievements in the arts and sciences. These prizes honor immigrants with a legacy of major accomplishments, as well as young immigrant professionals who have shown exceptional promise early in their careers. They also recognize immigrants who have had a significant impact on American society, or individuals who are dedicated champions of immigrant causes. In addition to the prizes, the foundation offers grants to support the programs and initiatives of other organizations that align with their mission. They also maintain an extensive art collection that fosters academic and artistic dialogue through exhibitions, traveling exhibits, and loans to cultural institutions worldwide. Founded in 2000 by Jan and Marica Vilcek, immigrants from Czechoslovakia, the foundation has awarded over $6.4 million in prizes and provided more than $5.8 million in grants. As a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, the Vilcek Foundation is committed to celebrating the contributions of immigrant artists and scientists, enriching our society and culture for the benefit of all.
