Founded in 1973 by George and Grace Kerson and Dante Bagnani, Vine Village emerged from a desire to provide alternatives to the isolation and impersonality of traditional living arrangements for individuals with disabilities. The founders aimed to create a supportive environment that fostered independence, personal growth, and a sense of belonging within the community. At Vine Village, individuals with developmental disabilities are offered a residential program designed to encourage continual learning and maximize independence, all while providing the necessary support and assistance. The organization recognizes the importance of creating a true home, emphasizing close family-like relationships and providing meaningful work opportunities for all individuals, irrespective of their abilities or disabilities. Their daughter, Saanen, recently took on the role of Executive Director, furthering the mission to offer counsel and support to people with disabilities and their families. Over the years, Vine Village has evolved and adapted to changing times while staying true to its core values of respect and personal choice.
