## Description

The St Vincent de Paul Society, known in Australia as Vinnies, is a lay Catholic organisation dedicated to assisting people experiencing poverty and inequality and working towards a more just and compassionate society. Inspired by a mission to serve all people with compassion and respect, it aims to create inclusive environments where everyone is treated with dignity. Across Australia, more than 45,000 members and volunteers support people in need through over 200 services, with local assistance available across every state and territory. People seeking support can find services in their area or call the Society’s assistance line on 13 18 12. Vinnies also operates shops and invites community members to contribute through volunteering, membership, fundraising, events and advocacy. Its work includes raising awareness of social issues such as homelessness, poverty and the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers. The National Council publishes The Record, a quarterly magazine focused on social justice, and shares news, media releases and policy submissions.
