## Description

The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland (VRTI) is a pioneering initiative aimed at preserving and reconstructing Ireland's historical archives lost in the 1922 Civil War fire. Funded by the Government of Ireland under Project Ireland 2040, this ambitious five-year research program is spearheaded by Trinity College Dublin, involving a collaboration of various institutions, including the National Archives of Ireland and scholarly partners from Ireland, Britain, North America, and beyond.

Through advanced digital technologies, VRTI brings to life a wealth of digitized records, offering open-access resources for anyone interested in Ireland's rich history. This initiative not only democratizes access to invaluable historical documents but also employs cutting-edge techniques in data linkage and knowledge graphs to foster a deeper understanding of Ireland's extensive historical tapestry.

VRTI encourages personal engagement with history, inspiring users to explore their ancestry while illuminating seven centuries of Irish culture and memory. By reuniting fragmented records and narratives, the initiative seeks to build a meaningful legacy for this and future generations.
