## Description

51st Ward Books is a dedicated retailer specializing in anti-racist, multicultural, and bilingual literature for children and young adults. With a strong emphasis on amplifying BIPOC authors and illustrators, the brand aims to foster positive racial identity development through literature that serves as both windows and mirrors for young readers. Founded by a multi-racial family from Chicago’s northwest side, 51st Ward Books is driven by a mission to nurture a love for reading while expanding access to diverse and socially conscious stories.

The brand offers a unique selection of books along with engaging bilingual book fairs, all designed to inspire the next generation of leaders for justice. Co-founders Nina D. Sánchez and Michael Wren, alongside Chief Book Advisor Vida C. Wren Sánchez, bring a wealth of experience in equity, arts, and education to their venture. 51st Ward Books not only enriches young minds but also creates a supportive community around transformative literature.
