## Description

The Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee (VLIZ) is a premier research institution dedicated to interdisciplinary studies of oceans, seas, coasts, and estuaries. Committed to enhancing the understanding of marine ecosystems, VLIZ actively participates in significant research initiatives focused on ocean health, biodiversity, and climate change adaptation. The institute facilitates cutting-edge marine research through its Marine Observation Centre and offers a wide range of services including data management, scientific diving, and educational outreach aimed at promoting ocean literacy.

VLIZ's commitment extends beyond research, as it promotes public awareness of marine issues and engages in citizen science projects. The organization supports policymakers, researchers, and the general public with various publications and semi-annual events, such as the Marine Science Day and the annual “De Zee als Goed Doel” initiative for fundraising. Additionally, their webshop features a Sea & Science collection, with proceeds directly contributing to marine research efforts globally. Join VLIZ in their mission to protect and understand our vital ocean resources for a sustainable future.
