## Description

De VOCsite is a comprehensive online resource dedicated to the history and operations of the Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC), one of the most significant trading companies of the 17th and 18th centuries. Initially created for private use, the site has evolved into a rich database featuring over 2,000 ships that were active during the VOC's existence from approximately 1600 to 1800. The site not only offers detailed records of ships but also includes historical insights into VOC trading posts, organizational structures, and navigation practices of the era. Users can explore various sections, including descriptions of VOC settlements, word lists, book recommendations, and relevant links. With ongoing updates, the VOCsite continuously enriches its content, making it an invaluable resource for historians, researchers, and enthusiasts of maritime history. Additionally, notable recent events, like the excavation of the wrecked ship Rooswijk and the visitable replica of the Halve Maen, highlight the site’s commitment to preserving and sharing VOC heritage.
