Vetenskap och Folkbildning (VoF) is a Swedish non-profit organization dedicated to promoting popular education about the methods and results of science. The organization aims to discredit false ideas that can be scientifically disproven through open debate. They investigate controversial phenomena such as astrology, healing, homeopathy, dowsing, telepathy, and UFOs, using science-based arguments, to determine their validity. VoF welcomes anyone who supports their purpose and all work is done on a voluntary basis. They publish a quarterly magazine called Folkvett and host numerous meetings and events throughout the year. In addition, VoF presents annual awards for Enlightener of the Year and Obscurantist of the Year. They also have local chapters in several cities. VoF's definition of science is the systematic search for knowledge that is independent of any individual, while pseudoscience consists of statements not based on science but presented in a way that gives them the appearance of being scientific.
