## Description

The Volkswagen Foundation, established over 60 years ago, is dedicated to advancing scientific research and societal transformation. Based in Hannover, Germany, the foundation actively supports researchers who aim to change the landscape of science through funding and innovative ideas. It operates across four main areas: Exploration, where unconventional methods are explored in untapped research fields; Societal Transformations, which enhances knowledge about societal changes and collaborates with various actors to develop actionable solutions; Knowledge about Knowledge, where the scientific system is critically examined to stimulate positive changes; and the "zukunft.niedersachsen" initiative, aimed at promoting research and teaching in Lower Saxony.

In addition to its funding programs, the Volkswagen Foundation organizes public events, including lectures and symposiums, to foster discussions on pressing issues such as democracy and environmental sustainability. By supporting interdisciplinary task forces and engaging with the community, the foundation seeks to inspire transformative research that resonates both locally and globally.
