Vortex NTNU | Trondheim is a dynamic brand that aims to empower students at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) to grow both as engineers and team members. Our mission is to provide students with the opportunity to design and build their own Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). By participating in national and international competitions, our students gain valuable experience and showcase their skills. Joining Vortex means access to cutting-edge technology, training, and a platform to work collaboratively on challenging engineering projects. We offer partnerships to companies, granting them access to our talented and dedicated team of over 50 students with real-world work experience. Since our establishment in 2015, we have achieved significant milestones, such as our first competition in 2016 at the NASA Neutral Buoyancy Lab. Over the years, we have continued to innovate, creating our own PCBs and thrusters, and receiving recognition for our sleek designs. We have transitioned from building ROVs to focusing on AUVs. Our latest creation, Beluga Mk2, developed by Team 2022, is set to compete in RoboSub 2022 and TAC 2022. We also participate in the RoboSub competition, held in San Diego, and the TAC Challenge, an event that emphasizes autonomy and relevance to the maritime industry.
