Vrystaat Kunstefees is one of the leading arts festivals in Africa, presenting a diverse range of national and international works in various genres for the past 23 years. Guided by the principle of One festival, many stories, the festival aims to promote and showcase exceptional art in the Free State region. It is the first and only South African cultural entity to follow Khoi-San protocol, recognizing and honoring the First Nations people and traditional owners of the land. Over the years, the festival has grown to become one of South Africa's most international and multi-lingual festivals, providing a platform for established and emerging artists, as well as community initiatives and student works. Held at the Bloemfontein campus of the University of the Free State, the festival offers a vibrant and inclusive space for creativity and cultural exchange.
