## Description

The Vereniging voor Ectodermale Dysplasie (VVED) is a volunteer-run patient association serving people affected by ectodermal dysplasia (ED) in the Netherlands and Belgium. ED is an inherited condition that can affect the hair, nails, sweat glands and teeth. The association works to raise awareness, gather and share reliable information, and support members and others seeking answers about the condition. VVED encourages contact with doctors and other specialists to help identify ED early and support further research. It also connects people with ED and their families through a buddy system, helping them find peers to talk with, exchange experiences and share practical tips; this service is available to non-members as well. Each year, the association hosts an information day where attendees can meet, learn from one another and hear about developments related to ED. VVED also shares newsletters, information sheets, practical tips and resources, and works with Erasmus University Medical Center on a multidisciplinary consultation service.
