Vashon Youth and Family Services (VYFS) is a vital part of the Vashon Community, aiming to foster a thriving and emotionally healthy community. Since 1977, VYFS has been providing essential programs and services to Vashon's most vulnerable populations, prioritizing those who face systemic barriers and historically excluded groups. Their comprehensive range of services includes infant mental health, child, youth, and family counseling, seniors counseling, Hispanic and Latinx support services, case management, substance use disorder assessment and treatment, homeless prevention, medical and ferry vouchers, and emergency financial assistance. VYFS operates four primary program areas. Their Behavioral Health program offers counseling, substance use treatment, and crisis response services. Vashon Kids program provides enriching child-care, supporting working families and promoting social-emotional development. Oasis Community Navigators help struggling families gain access to critical services and supports. Finally, Family Place supports and empowers Vashon families through various initiatives such as Parents as Teachers and the Vashon Early Learning Coalition.
