## Description

WACOMP (West Africa Competitiveness Programme) is a brand that aims to enhance the competitiveness of West Africa and promote integration into the regional and international trading system. Established as a partnership initiative between the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the European Union (EU), WACOMP is implemented in ECOWAS member states and Mauritania. In Ghana, WACOMP focuses on three value chains: cassava and its derivatives, fruits (mango and pineapple), and cosmetics and personal care products. The program seeks to improve the competitiveness of Ghanaian exports through value-addition, sustainable production, and processing. By providing technical assistance, training, coaching, equipment, and studies, WACOMP facilitates increased access to regional and international markets for Ghanaian products. Launched in March 2019, WACOMP Ghana aligns with the vision of the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA III) and UNIDO's mandate of fostering Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID).
