## Description

The Waikato Sport Fishing Club is a Hamilton-based fishing club founded in 1987 by local sport-fishing enthusiasts. Located beside the Waikato River, its club rooms are available for hire by members and the general public. The club is affiliated with the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council and the International Game Fish Association, giving members access to affiliated clubs’ tournaments and facilities, as well as courtesy weigh-ins.

The club runs a varied calendar of fishing competitions, from game-fishing tournaments to family-friendly weekends away. Its events include the Waikato Big Four competition, the SIMRAD Summer Champs and the Winter Challenge. Membership options are available to a broad range of people and include affiliation, a club newsletter and access to club events. Members can also find fishing rules, club records, catches, safety guidance and information about weigh masters, trophies and apparel through the club’s resources.

The club shares event updates, competition news and catch photos on Facebook, and provides updates through the free Sporty NZ app.
