## Description

The Wainwright Prize, established in 2013, honors the legacy of renowned outdoorsman Alfred Wainwright, known for his Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells. This prestigious award showcases and promotes the genre of nature writing, encouraging readers to explore the wonders of the natural world. The Prize features three categories: Nature Writing, Conservation Writing, and Children's Writing on Nature and Conservation, all aimed at highlighting Wainwright's core values of celebrating nature and addressing environmental issues.

With support from prominent sponsors and partners, including The Wildlife Trust and Quarto Group, the Prize not only recognizes outstanding literary works but also fosters awareness about nature conservation through engaging campaigns. Creative collaborations with talented illustrators such as Emily Wainwright, Helen Musselwhite, and Dorien Brouwers add an artistic dimension, enriching the Prize's visual narrative. The Wainwright Prize stands as both a beacon of literary excellence and a commitment to inspiring a deeper connection with the environment.
