Since its establishment in 1992, Wakakirri has been providing Australian schools with a platform for students to express their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations through storytelling and dance. That's why we empower schools to create captivating story-dances that resonate with their students. With a wide range of themes to choose from, including environmental and social issues, cultural heritage, health, historical events, and reconciliation narratives, the possibilities are endless. The Wakakirri Story-Dance Program consists of two exceptional initiatives: the Wakakirri Artists in Residence (AIR) program and the Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival.

The AIR program allows schools to incorporate story-dance creation throughout the year, offering flexibility and creativity for schools of all sizes. The Story-Dance Festival, held in term 3, is Australia's largest performing arts event for schools, showcasing the incredible story-dances from schools across the country.
