## Description

The Wakhan Project is an initiative of the Renzo Giuliani Ski Mountaineering School, part of the Cesare Battisti section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) in Verona. Its mission is to promote winter tourism among mountain communities in Afghanistan as a means of encouraging integration and peace. The project combines humanitarian engagement with practical mountain-sports training, involving ski mountaineering instructors and plans to train local guides. Its website shares updates from instructors working in the field, stories from Afghanistan and the Wakhan region, and information about the project’s planning, activities, progress, and results. Visitors can learn about events, read articles, and find ways to contribute through donations and materials. The site also features initiatives connected to the project, including the Wakhan Market, alongside reporting, personal diaries, cultural content, and coverage of events such as the Wakhan ski race. Supported by sponsors and community contributions, the project seeks to connect local people with opportunities in winter tourism while raising awareness of the region and its mountain communities.
