## Description

LIFE Northern Bald Ibis is a European conservation project focused on protecting and restoring the Northern Bald Ibis population. Launched in 2022, the initiative builds on more than 20 years of reintroduction work, which had established a population of around 200 birds in the European Alps by early 2022. Its goal is to make this population self-sustaining by 2028, so the birds can survive with less human assistance.

The project combines practical conservation work with public information and engagement. Activities include human-led migrations, which help young ibises learn routes to their wintering grounds, as well as live tracking, sightings updates and coverage of independent Alpine crossings. The project website shares news, photographs, videos, publications and reports, and offers a newsletter for regular updates. Visitors can also learn about the species’ characteristics and history, explore project locations and meet the project team and partners. LIFE Northern Bald Ibis presents its work through online resources and social media, helping audiences follow the birds’ progress and the broader effort to secure their future in Europe.
