## Description

Wallace Theatre is an independent performance venue and event space in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee, located at 215 E. Main Street. Founded in 2020 by performer Chris Maloney, it occupies a historic building that once housed Wallace’s shoe store, listed in a local business directory in 1955. The intimate stage has hosted improv, stand-up comedy, sketch performances, and film screenings, with programming inspired by audience-driven comedy traditions.

Beyond public entertainment, Wallace Theatre offers its 2,500-square-foot venue for private parties, corporate events, meetings, performances, rehearsals, workshops, and film screenings. Its customizable improv workshops are designed to support team building, creative thinking, and workplace dynamics. The upstairs has also been offered as coworking space for freelancers and people working from home. Guests may bring their own beverages, while soda, popcorn, and candy are available on site.

Wallace Theatre is currently pausing public events while renovating and revising its entertainment lineup, but private rentals remain available. It continues to offer a flexible setting for creative activities and community gatherings.
