## Description

Welcome to Fukushima Waraji Matsuri, where tradition meets celebration in the heart of Japan. The festival is deeply rooted in the local culture, featuring the iconic O-Waraji, a 12m-long straw sandal known as Japan's largest. This symbol of prosperity and safety is traditionally offered to Hachiman Shrine during the "Akatsuki-mairi" event in February.

The festival's origin story, brought to life by playwright Ayako Watanabe, adds a touch of magic to the event. The tale of a serpent, a big straw sandal, and the courage of the villagers paints a vivid picture of the festival's spirit. With vibrant dances, music, and elaborate costumes inspired by this folklore, the Fukushima Waraji Matsuri captivates both locals and visitors alike.

Join us in August, from the first Friday to Sunday, as we honor tradition, celebrate community, and pray for a prosperous future. Experience the magic of Fukushima Waraji Matsuri – a true gem of Japanese culture.
