The Washington Coalition for Open Government (WashCOG) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization that advocates for the people's right to access government information. As our democracy grapples with hyper-partisanship, WashCOG provides a healthy antidote by defending and strengthening Washington's open government laws. What sets us apart is our diverse coalition, consisting of citizen activists, government officials, business and labor representatives, media professionals, legal experts, and public policy organizations.

While our members may have differing views, they unite to fight for government transparency, believing it is crucial for accountability and public trust. Since 1972, WashCOG has been at the forefront, working tirelessly through the courts and legislature to ensure public access to government data. We offer community workshops, organize an annual Open Government Conference, and provide advice on open government issues.
