WASSA, the Women's Activities and Social Services Association, is Afghanistan's first independent women's organization, established in 2002. Their mission is to promote women's equal participation in socio-economic sectors and bring about a change in the social attitude of Afghan society. WASSA works directly with communities, implementing various projects in the Western Region, and has gained recognition as the most capable NGO in the region for implementing protection activities.
They are committed to empowering women and girls, mitigating protection risks, and ensuring the well-being of children by providing psychosocial support and access to education. Additionally, WASSA strives to channel humanitarian assistance to create safe and sustainable environments. They also empower youth, support community engagement, and advocate for decision-making.
As an active member of the UN coordination body, WASSA aligns its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and collaborates with various organizations to achieve its vision of a co-existing Afghan society free from violence and discrimination.
