## Description

Wasser ist ein kostbares Gut is a regional water-protection and education initiative led by teacher Tim Schmidt. Launched in 2020 for learners in Ganderkesee and Delmenhorst, the online platform has since welcomed students and trainees from across Germany. Its central aim is to connect learning with local action: participants research a nearby waterway, write an original report, and can become symbolic guardians of the water body they choose. Reports are published free of charge, helping raise awareness of water quality, climate protection, flood prevention, and environmental responsibility.

The site offers educational materials, project guidance, regional information about rivers, lakes, and wetlands, and a virtual climate learning trail. It also shares press releases, media reports, videos, water-sampling information, and updates on investigations into local waterways and possible pollution. Visitors can find links to cross-state flood warnings and learn about projects such as watershed screening and water protection. The initiative encourages students to recognize environmental issues, assess evidence, and take sustained action to protect water in their communities.
