## Description

Wastefront is a waste-to-value company developing an integrated platform to convert end-of-life tyres into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and recovered carbon black. Its approach aims to reduce the environmental impact of discarded tyres while supplying products for aviation, road fuels, tyre manufacturing and chemicals. The company’s first facility is located at the Port of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. Wastefront says the site is fully permitted, has secured feedstock and offtake agreements, and is being developed for commercial operations. The project broke ground in 2025, with the company targeting operations in 2027. Wastefront reports that its process produces tyre pyrolysis oil and recovered carbon black, and is pursuing approval to convert the oil into SAF, targeted for 2026. The business is backed by International Airlines Group, which it describes as a strategic supporter and major SAF consumer. Wastefront also promotes a scalable plant design, with an ambition to expand to five facilities by 2030. Headquartered in Sunderland, the company shares updates on its technology, projects, sustainability work and partnerships.
