## Description

Wave Walkers is London’s first dragon boating team for people affected by cancer. Its welcoming community includes people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their family members, friends and colleagues. The team brings people together to build fitness, strength and psychological wellbeing through regular paddling and shared support.

Wave Walkers is about more than sport: it offers a positive, understanding environment where members can take part in a new activity alongside people with similar experiences. Its goals include weekly on-water training, improving physical fitness and strength, and supporting emotional wellbeing. The team’s inclusive approach recognises each person’s journey without making cancer the sole focus.

Dragon boating is a team water sport, and the organisation highlights research suggesting that exercise and paddling can support recovery, physical function and quality of life for people affected by cancer. Wave Walkers welcomes participants across cancer types and experiences, not only those with a diagnosis.
