About
Description
Waviks is a pioneering brand that specializes in custom tools for nanofabrication. They offer state-of-the-art nanoscale and atomic level imaging and characterization solutions, addressing significant challenges in science and engineering. By understanding fundamental structure-composition-property relationships, Waviks enables advances in new materials, devices, and cell biology across various engineering and science disciplines.
One of Waviks' flagship products is the Vesta® laser sample heating system, originally developed for the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). It has gained popularity and is now also available for the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), and Helium Ion Microscopes (HIM). The Vesta® system relies on Waviks' expertise in fully programmable nanomanipulators and the physics of nanoanalysis.
It allows for precise heating in a very small area (10 um) on the sample, facilitating fast temperature ramping and examination of multiple sites on the same sample. With no thermal damage to detectors or the column and minimal thermal-mechanical drift in the sample, long-duration studies and movies are effortlessly conducted. The laser can also be pulsed to capture transient events.
Additionally, the Vesta® system offers the capability of Electron Energy Gain Spectroscopy (EEGS) with laser stimulation for advanced analytical purposes. Waviks has been making headlines in the scientific community. Their Vesta® system was used in electron beam induced deposition purification via pulsed laser induced oxidation reactions, as demonstrated by teams from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University of Tennessee, Utah State University, and Graz University of Technology.
Collaborators from the University of Notre Dame, University of Tennessee, and Oak Ridge National Lab also utilized the Vesta® system in exploring photothermal heating pathways in Transmission Electron Microscopy. Moreover, teams from the University of Tennessee, Graz Centre for Electron Microscopy, and Oak Ridge National Lab made significant strides in 3D nanoprinting through laser-assisted electron beam induced deposition.
