## Description

The Watts Bar Ecology and Fishery Council (WBEFC) is dedicated to safeguarding the ecology and economy of the Upper Tennessee River Lakes, established in 2017 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Committed to addressing the urgent threat posed by invasive species, particularly the Asian Silver Carp, WBEFC coordinates research, assessment, and actionable solutions to avert ecological devastation in lakes such as Watts Bar, Chickamauga, Melton Hill, Fort Loudoun, and Tellico. The organization actively promotes control measures for both invasive aquatic plants and fish species that threaten the delicate balance of these ecosystems.

WBEFC empowers stakeholders to engage in meaningful action through various work groups, offering opportunities to become board members, share expertise, and contribute to funding initiatives that support ongoing efforts. With a mission focused on preventative measures, WBEFC strives to maintain the ecological integrity and recreational value of these lakes, crucial to the region’s economy, estimated to generate over $1.5 billion annually. Join WBEFC in their urgent fight for the future of our lakes and the prosperity they bring.
