About WCRP
Description
WCRP, short for the World Climate Research Programme, is dedicated to advancing the understanding and prediction of Earth System variability and change. With a rich history and a strong network of partners, WCRP aims to support practical applications of climate research. At the core of WCRP's efforts are several key projects.
The Climate and Cryosphere project (CliC) focuses on the interactions between the climate system and the cryosphere, while the Climate and Ocean Variability, Predictability and Change project (CLIVAR) investigates oceanic and atmospheric processes. The Earth System Modelling and Observations project (ESMO) aims to improve models and observations of the Earth's system. In addition to these core projects, WCRP also engages in activities like coordinating regional climate downscaling experiments, exploring digital Earths, and developing strategies to mitigate climate risks.
To stay connected with the scientific community, WCRP organizes regular events and publishes news and highlights. By actively promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise, WCRP plays a vital role in addressing the challenges posed by climate change
