## Description

Wildlife Conservation Society–India (WCS-India) is a Section 25 non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding India’s wildlife and natural habitats. Guided by the global WCS mission, it combines conservation science, field action and policy engagement to protect species, ecosystems and critical landscapes. Its work addresses challenges including habitat loss, poaching, illegal wildlife trade and human-wildlife conflict, while partnering with governments, NGOs and local communities.

WCS-India’s initiatives span biodiversity, agroforests, marine research and conservation, community rights, and the relationships between nature and culture. Projects include supporting community-led conservation and sustainable livelihoods in Nagaland’s lowland rainforests, as well as celebrating connections between people, traditions and the natural world. The organization also shares conservation knowledge through publications, illustrations, annual reports and its newsroom, and engages students and the wider public through workshops and community activities. By pairing practical conservation efforts with community empowerment, WCS-India seeks to protect wildlife while improving the lives of people who share their landscapes. Its work is supported through partnerships and opportunities for public support.
