Description
Worker Resource Center (WERC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through long-term careers in public service. For over 20 years, WERC has been partnering with public service and safety net employers in Los Angeles County to provide high-quality workforce development programs. As a labor-management partnership with the Service Employees International Union Local 721, WERC is committed to offering equitable, excellent public service and creating stable permanent employment opportunities.
WERC conducts research, develops curriculum, and delivers cutting-edge training programs and intensive case management to support individuals on their career paths. They have recently launched an 80-hour training program for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification in California. Additionally, WERC offers various career opportunities, including positions such as Instructional Designers, Program Managers, and Case Managers.
Through their programs like PLACE (Preparing Los Angeles for County Employment) and Apprenticeship Programs, WERC aims to prepare individuals with high barriers to employment and underrepresented populations. They also provide coaching, encouragement, and trauma-informed services through partnerships with community-based organizations. WERC's transformative workforce development initiatives not only provide economic opportunities but also improve the health and stability of workers, their families, and communities.
