Started as a citizen initiative by Kristin Verellen and a group of friends after the devastating attacks in Brussels in 2016, We have the choice has grown into an organization with over 50 volunteer circle facilitators. Their main offering is the Cirkels, which are contemporary and creative forms of ancient rituals that celebrate, honor, remember, grieve, and deepen connection. These circles, guided by trained facilitators, provide a safe space for individuals to share their experiences and emotions. By fostering genuine dialogue and listening, the circles promote healing, resilience, meaning, and solidarity. We have the choice also organizes projects, training sessions for circle facilitation, inspiring lectures, and co-creative exhibitions featuring photos by Johan Van Steen and poems by Kristin Verellen. In addition to their work with adults, We have the choice places special emphasis on young people from diverse backgrounds through their project I have the choice. This project aims to foster well-being, self-discovery, and connection among young individuals by organizing circle workshops focused on relevant themes.
